What a tune-up covers

Heating maintenance, done properly

Heating maintenance is a scheduled inspection and cleaning of your furnace or heat pump before you rely on it. A licensed technician checks the parts that wear, cleans what collects dust, and runs the system through a full heating cycle.

On a gas furnace that means the burners, flame sensor, ignitor, blower and venting, plus the safety controls. On a heat pump it means the outdoor coil, refrigerant circuit, reversing valve, defrost operation and electrical connections.

Heating in Los Angeles often sits idle for most of the year, and dust, worn parts and loose connections build up in that time. A tune-up catches them early, while the fix is still small.

When to book

Good times for a tune-up

  • Your heating hasn't been serviced in the last year
  • Before the first cold snap of the season
  • It smells dusty or burnt on the first run
  • Heat feels uneven or the system cycles more than usual
  • Your furnace or heat pump is more than a few years old
What's included

Every heating tune-up covers

  • Full heating cycle test, start to shutdown
  • Burner, flame sensor and ignitor inspection and cleaning on gas furnaces
  • Outdoor coil, defrost and reversing valve check on heat pumps
  • Blower and motor inspection
  • Electrical connections tightened and safety controls tested
  • A clear summary of what we found and anything that needs attention

Honest note: if your system is already blowing cold air, tripping a breaker or shutting off early, it needs a repair visit rather than a tune-up. If it's near the end of its life, we'll tell you plainly whether maintenance is still worth it.

FAQs

Heating Maintenance questions

How often should I service my heating?

Once a year is the usual recommendation, ideally in the fall before you start using it.

Do you service both furnaces and heat pumps?

Yes. We maintain gas furnaces and heat pumps, including ductless systems.

What happens if you find a problem?

We explain what we found and what it would take to fix it. Nothing gets repaired without your go-ahead.

Can I book heating and AC maintenance together?

Yes. A heat pump handles both, and for a furnace with central AC we can check both halves of the system in one visit.
